MFA Instructions with Modern Authentication
This is going to be a step by step guide on how to set up MFA for your Office 365 account. This document is meant for mobile app MFA setup. Please make sure you follow each step closely and refer to the screen shots as you go through the process.

1. Before we get started you will need to get Microsoft Authenticator on your phone. To download the app go to the app store on your mobile device (Google play store, App store) and search for Microsoft Authenticator. The app icon should look like below.
2. Now that this is done. First you want to go to the Office 365 portal (https://www.office.com/). Once there if you are currently signed in you will need to sign out. You can do that by clicking the circle in the top right corner of the page (will be your initials or a picture). Then you can click the Sign out option that appears in the box. If you are not currently signed in you are right where you want to be.

3. Now that you are signed out and MFA is enabled you will need to sign back in. When you sign in you will see the following screen. Just click Next to begin the process.

4. Next you will see the following two screens. Click Next on each to continue.

5. Now if you can go on your phone and open the Microsoft Authenticator app. You should see a screen like the one below. You want to click the top right plus sign + to add a new account. Then you want to select Work or school account.

6. On your phone you now want to scan the QR code shown on your computer screen. Should look like the picture below. After you scan the QR code you can click Next.

7. Once the next screen loads on your computer you will get a pop-up notification on your phone like the one pictured below. Click Approve on your phone.

8. After selecting Approve in the last step you should see the following screen on your computer. Click Next to continue.

9. Now you will see the following page letting you know that MFA is setup. Click Done to finish the setup process.

10. After you finish the last step, you will start to get sign in pop-ups for your desktop office applications like Outlook and Teams. Sign into your office 365 account by entering in your password and then approving the sign in on your phone. This sign in pop-up may not happen right after step 9 is complete so feel free to start working and just be ready to sign in when you see the pop-up.
